THE TWENTY is Houston’s first BMX only mass ride. We’ll be meeting at Liberty Station on Washington Ave for this first ride and ending at the same place. Liberty loves bikes. We’ll figure out a route before taking off, which will most likely include a few stops to session and throw down some tricks. If anyone has any suggestions, please post them here on the wall. We’d like to make this a monthly deal if possible. Special thanks to FIKSD apparel and Liberty Station for making this possible.

Fiksd Apparel, with the help of some local bmx riders is organizing and hosting the first BMX only mass bike ride in Houston,Tx on September 16, 2011. With the rise in organized mass bike rides in the city and around the country, we’re seeing this trend lead into specialty rides, one being bmx only riders. There’s a group in Hollywood, CA doing a ride once a month with some 200+ riders showing up every time. We hope to follow suit with what we are calling “The Twenty”, a play on 20″ bikes by the way, for you slow ones. ha.
More details are to come, including the meeting spot and times. We’ll stick to the standard times that the Houston Critical Mass rides take place which usually start around 7pm. Our plans for this first ride will be a casual ride through the city, a couple of planned stops at either some shows or parties, and a final stop at a select location where we’ll host a small jam and party.
For more information, contact us at email@example.com. If you’d like to help sponsor this ride in some way, volunteer, or contribute to the final stop/jam, please let us know.
One of our most faithful team riders, Diego Tejada, made his way to Germany recently to compete in the BMX Masters (flatland). This video by Jean Lambo features 2 – 3 seconds of Diego. lol. Enjoy.
We’ve been wanting to carry a nice entry level fixed gear bike for a while and I think we finally found a good brand to work with us. We are now carrying State Bicycles, which are based out of Tempe, Arizona. State’s goal is to bring the most attractive, high quality, and smooth riding fixed gear/single speed bicycles to the market at the lowest price possible. They currently offer 8 different color combinations, 3 handlebar styles (Bullhorns, riser bars, and drop-down bars), and 4 sizes (49cm, 52cm, 55cm, and 59cm). Each bicycle model that they offer is available for 3 months to a year before it is “retired” and they release newly designed models to replace it — so it’s not likely you will see other State Bicycles that look like yours all around town. In May 2010 State retired the Magenta and the Fascist from their collection. And in July 2010, they released the Marino, Hyphy, and The Samurai, as well introducing a size 49 cm in all 8 models. By August 2010, they began adding frame sets, wheel sets, handlebars, grips, tires, tubes and other accessories which we also hope to carry soon. Lastly, from day one, State Bicycle has offered 100% FREE shipping to the continental United States and they have absolutely no intentions of changing that. That free shipping will be offered to all Byke Shop customers as well.
